세계적으로 종교갈등 때문에 무고한 사람들이 고통받는 것을 보면서 종교갈등에 관한 책을 몇권 읽었었는데 다 읽고 나서 들었던 생각이
‘형태나 해석이 다를뿐 결국 다 같은 소리하면서 왜 싸우는거지? 깃발의 그림이 별인지 달인지 그 차이가 뭐 중요한거라고’
우리가 사람들끼리 미워하고 증오하게 되는 것은 ‘저 놈은 나랑 다른편이다’라고 다름을 인식하게 되는 순간 증오가 시작되게 되는데, 그렇다면 반대로 같음을 찾으면 증오가 사랑으로 바뀔 수 있다는 말이 아닌가.
그래서 찾아봤다.
각 종교에서 공통적으로 하는 말을.
역시 모든 종교에서 공통으로 똑같이 하는 말이 하나 있었다.
“나 이외에 다른 신은 믿지마라.”
기독교 하나님 “나는 스스로 있는자다. 나 외에는 다른 신을 네게 두지 마라.”
이슬람 알라신 “하나님에 대한 완전한 복종” (알라는 유일신을 가리키는 아랍어)
불교 부처 “천상천하유아독존. 나 자신안의 참 부처를 깨닫고 그것에만 의지하라”
각 종교에서 말하는 하나님, 알라, 부처를 “나. 내자신"으로 바꿔서 해석하면 모든 종교의 교리가 전부 맞는 소리가 되고, 일맥상통 모두 다 공통적으로 똑같은 소리를 하고 있다는 것을 알수 있었다.
어차피 종교의 교리들도 인간이 해석에 따라 분파되어 온것인데 이왕이면 평화로운 공존이 가능한 해석이면 더 좋지 않을까?
안그래도 갈등많은 세상인데 왜 자꾸 다른것들을 강조하면서 사람들을 갈라치기의 희생양으로 만드는 것일까? 결국 위정자들의 권력유지에 그것이 유리하기 때문에 다른것을 강조하며 니편내편 나누는 것일 뿐인데 우리는 왜 그러한 것들에 속아 넘어가 그들의 권력의 도구로 악용되고 있냐는 말이다.
만약 종교를 멋대로 해석하는 내가 잘못된 것이라면 역사적으로 기독교가 분파된 근원인 칼뱅이나 루터 역시 자기 깜냥대로 종교를 해석하는 일이 없었어야 했다.
해석의 차이. 그것이 갈등을 만들어 낸것이 아닌가?
그렇다면 더이상의 갈등을 그치게 하고 평화로운 공존을 이끌 해석 또한 새롭게 만들어져야 한다고 본다. 더이상 권력자들 그 자신의 권력을 위해 국민들이 대신 희생되지 않도록 말이다.

칼뱅이나 루터가 쓴 글들도 읽어보고 그들의 생애도 살펴본뒤 느낀점은 결국 종교계의 주도권을 자기에게로 빼앗아 오기위해 해석을 자기유리한쪽으로 달리한것인데,
진짜 코메디였던건 자기가 정작 기득권이 되었을때는 자기가 권력을 뺏을때 적용하려고 본인 스스로 만든 진리를 남들은 적용못하게 했다는사실.
아니 웃을수가 없었다.
