그들은 공감능력이 없는것이 아니라 오히려 공감능력이 남들보다 월등하기때문에 어떻게하면 상대를 더 고통스럽게 심리적으로 조종해서 자신의 이익을 최대한 뽑아낼것인가에 특화되었다고 말하고 있다.

뭔가 점점 갈수록 상대가 비인간적 냉혈한으로 느껴짐과 동시에 나의 물질과 시간, 감정이 계속 털리고 있는 느낌이 든다면 상대가 공감능력자임을 가장한 심리조종자가 맞다.
그러므로 상대가 좋은사람인가 판단할때 상대가 내 가치를 얼마나 알아주는가, 내가 외로울때 얼마나 다정하게 힘이되어주는가, 내 마음을 잘 헤아려 내뜻대로 비위를 잘 맞춰주는가 이것들로 기준을 삼아서는 안될것이다.
폴 블룸은 진짜 좋은사람은 내가 아군이든 적군이든 사이가 좋을때든 나쁠때든 자신의 순간적 감정에 지배되지 않고 언제나 이성적이고 객관적인 판단을 내리고 그에 일치되는 행동을하느냐로 기준삼아야한다고 말하고 있다.
